Leila i want to allocate on account credit with debit balance in ageing different brackets. Please suggest a formula to adjust on account credit with different brackets of ageing on FiFo basis ( first allocate against 420 days then 360 days and so on) plz make a video or at least suggest me a formula i have 365 solution
Here’s a nifty way to flash fill sub accounts. For example the data in Column A is in the format
1100 – Accounts Receivable
1210 – Stock
1510 – Computer Equipment: 1511 – Cost
1510 – Computer Equipment: 1512 – Depreciation
2000 – Accounts Payable
and so on and so on.
In the first five cells of column B type your example 1100, 1210, 1510, 1510, 2000, and flash fill down. FRED now knows to ignore sub accounts.
In the first five cells of column C type 1100, 1210, 1511, 1512, 2000, and flash fill down. FRED now knows that if you want sub accounts only if they exist.
If you try to do it in one step you will get a dog’s breakfast.
Now this is when FRED gets really, really smart. In the first five cells of Column D type Accounts Receivable, Stock, Computer Equipment Cost, Computer Equipment Depreciation, Accounts Payable, and flash fill down. If that doesn’t get a Wow! out of you…
Caveat – DO NOT use the Data Subtotal feature if you have a substantial dataset.
In my sleepy mode, I managed to add an object that was disliked by Excel mobile, and showed a bar that looked like a border line. Yet with traditional trial and error, it wasn’t going away. Thus coming across “Special Search”, allowed me to find it, and delete it, though for each individual page, as my data entry for deliveries is set for up to 31 days per workbook, for each calendar month. I also had to backtrack to my base template, and do the same thing, for future months.

Did you mention at the beginning which version of Excel has these functions, ‘cos if you did, I missed it. I use Excel 2010 which does not have all the features which you are featuring (pun intended). Although your video has excellent content, it would have been good to know at the outset so I could skip to those items which I can actually use.

Is there a formula to show in which cells of a spreadsheet a plug could have been added. For example, say each cell links to cells from another template but a plug was added at the end of one or more of them, is there a quick way to know which cells as opposed to check them all one by one? Thanks
